Atlanta came and went with Nim Cross taking his first VRW win and the points championship battle being shaved down to just a few points for the lead.

Teams were also having money problems and Atlanta also saw the end of John O'Hearn's first VRW team as O'Hearn Racing went under financially, putting the ever-consistant VRW Magazine's Gilles Mourette out of a drive. O'Hearn will return for season two in the VRW Grand National division on Sunday nights.

Shawn Wise took the pole for the VRW Homestead 300 trying to retain his slim championship point lead over Mike Ramsden how started in the distant 18th position of the 32 car field. Team Gulf/Homes top driver Chris Shearburn started in the 5th position. Dave Brown started on the outside of row one for Ellision Motorsports.

Wise led early, being followed closely by Brown. Brown ran up front for the first 70 laps until he was dropped back into the field under green flag stops. He would finish 17th. Shearburn caught both Wise and Brown and powered by them to move into the lead after only 20 laps.

Shawn Wise 'laid the smack down' on Roger Voss (#06) after the race for taking 3rd place and 5 points from him with only two laps to go.

Shearburn dominated the day, leading a massive amount of laps en route to his record fourth VRW win. Wise would lose the chamionship after Ramsden beat him out of the pitlane with only a handfull of laps remaining. JustRacin League star Roger Voss put Wise's championship dream to bed for good with a patient pass on the #98 car, religating him to fourth place and locking Mike Ramsden into the 2nd spot. After the race was completed Wise came up next to Voss and punted him into the inside retaining wall on the back straight letting him know exactly what he thought of Voss' bold move.

Season Two gets underway in a few weeks, featuring two new divisions, with all divisions pre-qual will be on sunday night, with races being on monday (Cup & Sportsman) and TUESDAY (Grand National) [Ed: Thanks Gilles for the correction].

On a side note: The Season 1 finale also marked the last race on Papyrus' NASCAR Racing 4 for the VRW. Like most online sim stock car series, the VRW is making sure they are using the most realistic stock car sim on the planet.
