Virtual Racing World

Jacksonville, FL (April 24, 2002) - In a press conference this afternoon atthe Bad Moon Racing garage, owner Steve Vandergriff introduced the team'sdrivers and unveiled the paint schemes for the upcoming VRW Grand Nationalseason. VRW vet Don Colliau was tapped to pilot the #5 Fruitfull ChevyMonte Carlo, while steady Ric Seyler will drive the #6 entry. Both driverswere had for the minimum $5,000, making Bad Moon Racing the "cheapest teamin the VRW."

When asked about the spartan driver pay checks, Vandergriff noted, "I wonderwho I would've gotten if the minimum bid was a dollar? Hmmm." Vandergriffwas well pleased to have two longtime, experienced racers join the BMRstable. "These guys are both studs, and I gave them my word I wouldn't putthem in pink cars, chicken suits or pie-eating contests. Ric Seyler wasn'ttoo sure about this whole thing at first, but then he noticed the CD changerwe installed in his car, complete with "Led Zepplin's Greatest Hits," "TedNugent's Double Live Gonzo" and "Cheech & Chong Present Earache My Eye." Ithink after that he breathed a sigh of relief."

One reporter asked whether there were any special concessions made for DonColliau. "He requested some fuzzy dice for the rear view mirror, which wewere able to pick up at Wal-Mart, and he wanted an 8-ball shifter knob. Wefound that in the J.C. Whitney catalog. So we managed to scramble and avoida potential contract snafu," Vandergriff responded. "He also doesn't likered M&M;'s, so please everyone...don't eat them or mention them around him, okay?"

Vandergriff was then asked if the rumors linking his family lineage toanother well-known cheapskate, Ebenezer Scrooge, were in fact true. At thatpoint, the owner made a hasty exit through a door at the rear of the shop, and up the steps of his waiting private jet. As the door was being pulledshut, the throng of reporters overheard Vandergriff urging the pilot, "Let'sgo, let's go! It's Wednesday, and we get a free box of detergent with aneight gallon purchase! C'mon, let's get this bird back to the hangar, Iwant that detergent!"
