Bad Moon Racing Heads West

Jacksonville, FL (AP)-Upon failing to get either car into the show at Texas Motor Speedway this week, owner Steve Vandergriff had the shop crews working around the clock, busily applying final preparations to the teams' two racecars for this week's VRW event in Fontana, California. "We had to completely rebuild the cars after the big crack up at Rockingham", Vandergriff lamented. "The only thing that wasn't busted up in Ric Seyler's car was the cup holder, and Don Colliau's car was basically turned into a paper weight. It was our fault completely that the guys didn't pre-qual well at Texas. My crew chief completely forgot to hook up Ric Seyler's steering shaft, and Don's engine was missing." When one reporter muttered that a missing engine can be easily cured by flipping the ignition switch, Vandergriff sneered, "Idiot! I mean, the engine was MISSING, VANISHED, GONE!"

As the Bad Moon Racing hauler silently pulled away from its spartan garage in Jacksonville, Florida at dawn this morning, the weary crew looked forward to some well earned rest. "Yeah, they're real tired but I keep reminding them to look on the bright side...that they have a roof over their heads and can sleep at night. Okay, so the garage floor is kind of hard, but they can use the pallets that our engines came on to sort of pamper them with that 'Motel 6 cushy' mattress feel. I even had my secretary write "Posteurpedic" on the pallets with a Sharpie," Vandergriff said.

The Bad Moon Racing Team has gotten off to a slow start this season but remains in the black. Vandergriff attributes this to his frugal financial acumen, and completely quashed any rumors of a shakeup. "Everybody has highs and lows, we're here for the full season together," Vandergriff stated emphatically. "I would look at changes if these guys missed a long stretch of races in a row, but this was clearly my crew's fault, not theirs. They were flying in practice, and they're both good drivers and I want them to relax and focus on driving. I'm not making any changes based on what happens during the races, there's a lot that goes on out there that they can't control. And I can't imagine the pressure these guys are under with all the distractions of being a star driver at the VRW level. The women are everywhere, all of them hoping to get close to these guys. It even happened to me. You know, when I won the Owner's Cup race at Daytona I received numerous propositions, not even counting the ones from Nim Cross and Lonnie Larkan."

The Bad Moon Racing Team can be seen during pre-qualification runs at California Speedway this Sunday night on Racecast.
