Andy Small: Friends

I’ve been pondering what to write for this weeks article. Till was I was chatting online with my buddy Brandon Lutz. We’ve been talking since 8 pm tonight and it’s 12:30 in the morning. It’s a long time but it’s not uncommon. Brandon is one of those guys you can just talk and talk and talk to. He listens and offers feedback. He’s a great friend. We not only talk about sim racing we talk about girls, cars, real racing, painting, and life in general. I can honestly say he’s one of my best friends. I’ve never met him but he is.
Another one of my buddies is Mark Brister. Mark has been a friend for over a year now. We hardly ever raced with each other, rather, we talked about life and love and girls. He’s most undoubtedly my BEST friend. Brando comes in a close second though.
Both of these guys know me better than I know myself some times I think. Now we are racing each other. This year I made sure we were racing each other. Brandon always quipped that we would bang fenders one day cuz I was Ford man and he is a stiff staunch Chevy man. He was shocked the day I told him I wanted my N2K2 car to be a Chevy. Mark all but disowned me when he found out.
I feel like I could tell these dudes anything about me or my family. I think they can do the same. I can’t wait to actually shake my best friend’s hands and go to a race with them. When we are all three in a chat room watch out! We’ll be causing some trouble.
If you’ll allow me to share my ultimate dream with you it would be this: We all meet up one day when me and Mark are out of school and form a race team. I’ll handle the business side of the operation, Mark will be the crew chief and Brandon will be the driver. We’ll all make lots of money and win lots of races. I hope this happens but somehow I doubt it will. Brandon will become famous, Mark will make lots of money and I’ll say I knew them when they were guys on the “net”
